TREATMENT
Of all body areas, the face is that which attracts most attention in interpersonal contact; and of the facial area, the part which most attracts our gaze when interacting with another individual is the periocular area.
In the case of patients with aesthetic requirements, it should be remembered that the patient in question is healthy, our final goal being to achieve a natural, harmonious appearance in balance with the other facial structures. In the concept of beauty, there are a number of features which are accepted by more or less everybody, but there is also a subjective component by which certain individuals prefer certain attributes. Therefore, our approach involves a relaxed pre-treatment conversation, in which the patient clearly states his/her desires (reasonable expectations), and the doctor offers a detailed explanation (surgical technique, benefits, risks) of each of the options he/she considers most suitable. In this way, a plan of action is agreed upon by both parties.
Tired looking eyes – this is the result of a number of changes in the periocular structures (drooping eyebrows or eyebrow ptosis, excess skin in the upper eyelid or dermatocalasia, and fat bags in the eyelid or steatoblepharon). By repositioning the eyebrows at a higher level and extracting the excess of fatty skin in the eyelids, it is possible to “refresh” the gaze.
